INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR

An INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR is a procedure done to repair a hernia in the abdominal area of your groin. A hernia is tissue that bulges out of a weak spot in the abdominal wall. Your intestines may bulge out through this weakened area.

THE PROCEDURE:

You will receive anesthesia so that you are asleep and pain-free for the surgery. The surgeon will make a cut, find the hernia and separate it from the surrounding tissue. The surgeon will then close your weakened abdominal muscles with stitches, and a piece of mesh will often sewn into place to strengthen your abdominal wall.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE:

Most patients can get out of bed an hour or so after surgery and go home the same day. Typically, the outcome of this surgery is very good.
